At present, laser welding machines are mainly classified according to 4 methods:
1. According to the laser output energy mode, it can be divided into: pulse laser welding and continuous laser welding;
Pulse laser welding: refers to the way in which the laser output is discontinuous and only works once every certain interval. It is mainly used for spot welding and seam welding of thin metal materials. The biggest advantage of pulse laser welding is that the overall temperature rise of the workpiece is small, the heat influence range is small, and the deformation of the workpiece is small.
Continuous laser welding: Continuous working mode means that the laser output is continuous, and the output is not interrupted after the laser is turned on.
2. According to the power density of the laser spot after focusing, it can be divided into: heat conduction laser welding and deep penetration welding;
Thermal conduction laser welding: the surface of the workpiece is heated by laser radiation, and the surface heat is diffused into the material through thermal conduction. By controlling the waveform, width, peak power and repetition frequency of the laser pulse, the workpiece is melted to form a specific molten pool.
Laser deep penetration welding: Generally, continuous laser beam is used to complete the connection of materials. The metallurgical physical process is very similar to electron beam welding, and the energy conversion mechanism is completed through small holes. Under the irradiation of the high-power density laser, the material evaporates to form a small hole. This steam-filled small hole is like a black body, which absorbs almost all the incident light energy. The heat is transferred from the outer wall of the high-temperature cavity to surround the cavity. Metal melts. The wall material continuously evaporates under the light beam to generate high-temperature steam, and the surface tension of the wall layer formed by the flow of liquid outside the hole wall is maintained and dynamic balance is maintained with the continuous steam pressure in the hole. The light beam continuously enters the small hole, and the small hole is always in a stable state of flow. The molten metal surrounding the wall of the hole moves forward with the advance of the leading light beam. The molten metal fills the gap left by the small hole after it is removed and condenses. The seam is formed.
3. According to the laser, it can be divided into: lamp pump, fiber, YAG, fiber transmission
4. According to the nature and form of light, it can be divided into hard light path and soft light path
Hard light path means that the light path is transmitted in the air and the path of transmission is fixed.
The soft optical path transmits laser light through optical fiber, and the optical path is variable. For example, when you are welding a thing, you can achieve various paths of welding without moving the machine, because you have movable optical fibers.
